An Adventure Time Thanksgiving

"Hey Jake what's Thanksgiving?"

The dog looked up at his human brother who was looking over an old calendar.

"I don't know dude," Jake took the calendar and glanced at it. "It seems to be special though."

"We should probably ask someone," Finn said. "Come on."

The two walked over to the Candy Kingdom where they found Princess Bubblegum in her lab.

"Hey Princess Bubblegum!" Finn waved.

"Hey Finn what's up?" She put down her beaker and walked towards them.

"Do you know what Thanksgiving is?" Jake handed over the calendar.

Princess Bubblegum looked it over. She flipped through the calendar, intently studying it.

"It seems to be reoccurring," she stated.  "It was on this calendar in November 2011 and again in 2012, and it was always the third Thursday. But I have no clue what it means."

"What cha guys looking at?"

Marceline floated through the door. Princess Bubblegum glanced her an annoyed look, as she closed the calendar.

"How many times have I told you not to do that?" She huffed.

"I do what I want Princess," Marceline smirked back. "I couldn't help but wonder what's going on."

"Hey Marceline, do you know what Thanksgiving is?" Finn asked.

"Of course I do," Marceline chuckled. "I'm a thousand years old remember?"

"Well what is it?" Jake added.

"It's a holiday where you eat a ton of food with family," Marceline explained. "And there are parades and football games on TV.  It was fun."

"That sounds so cool!" Finn exclaimed. "We should have one!"

"Yeah that would be totally cool!" Jake said.

"Count me in," Marceline chimed in.

"It seems interesting," Princess Bubblegum said. "So how do we have a Thanksgiving?"

The tree house was all tided up. A huge table was set outside, with a fancy tablecloth and the best plates and forks and knives. Jake and Finn came back from the Grocery Kingdom with a large turkey, potatoes, bread, eggs, cranberries, sugar, apples, pumpkins, flour, ice cream, green beans, and sweet potatoes.  Finn and Jake got to work making the dinner while Bubblegum made the pumpkin and apple pies. Marceline sat in the kitchen working on fall themed decorations and playing on her bass guitar as they cooked. Beemo hung up the decorations all over the house and sent out the invitations. Soon it was twelve and the guests started to arrive.

"Oh my glob I like totally love parties. Thanks for inviting me," LSP said as she met Finn.

Lady Rainicorn and Jake snuggled up together, talking in low voices. He put a hand on her baby bumped and rubbed it. She gave him a kiss.

"What's this a party?"

Everyone turned around to see Ice King enter. They all fell silent.

"I love parties!" The Ice King exclaimed.

"Oh my glob like what the lump is he doing here!?" LSP shouted.

"No it's ok…I invited him," Marceline said. All the princesses gave Marceline a stern look. "It's ok, he won't hurt you."

"Who's this party for?" Ice King asked.

"Oh it's for Thanksgiving," Finn said.

"Thanksgiving, why does that sound familiar?" Ice King scratched his head.

Everyone sat down at the table.  The food was passed around. Finn took the first bite.

"Mmm this is good," PB said reaching out for more turkey.

"Oh my glob this is like so yummy," LSP stuffed a spoonful of mashed potatoes into her mouth.

Beemo was trying to eat the best he could with gravy running down his face.

For a few minutes the only sound that was heard was the sound of mouths chewing. Then slowly people started to talk. Jake and Ice King were deep in conversation about penguins. Lady Rainicorn was teaching Finn phrases in Korean. Flame Princess who had been ignored by nearly all of the other guests was talking with LSP. Even PB and Marceline were getting along, laughing at an old joke. Everyone lingered at the table, long after desert was finished. It was then when LSP suggested that they play telephone. The most ridiculous "secrets" were passed around such as "trees have purple computer branches" and "dragon kings have tiny toenails" The whole table could not stop laughing. Finn looked around, happy that everyone was having a good time.

Soon it was time to leave. Ice King had stood up from his chair. He waved and turned to go, but not before saying:

"You know, thanks for inviting me here. It's nice to know I have friends. I'll give thanks for that."

"You too, see you Ice King!" Finn waved. Maybe that's what Thanksgiving used to be about. Giving thanks for the friends you had and for the good times that they all shared.
